ITUC-Africa is the African regional organisation of the International Trade Union Confederation. It brings together trade union centres across the continent to defend workers’ rights, decent work, equality and social justice.

Created in November 2007, ITUC-Africa carries a common voice for African workers through representation, advocacy, solidarity and capacity development.

ITUC-Africa’s history is rooted in African trade union struggles for social justice, democracy, peace and workers’ emancipation.
Before
Before ITUC-Africa was created, ICFTU-Afro and DOAWTU structured an important part of the African trade union movement.
2007
ITUC-Africa was created in November 2007 following the merger of ICFTU-Afro and DOAWTU.
Today
The organisation coordinates the work of its affiliates and carries African workers’ demands into regional, continental and international spaces.

ITUC-Africa works for decent work, social protection, trade union freedoms, international solidarity and the strengthening of trade union organisations.
